Residents of Nong Na Kham subdistrict in Mueang district, Udon Thani province, are furious after discovering someone illegally dumped sewage waste on a newly paved concrete road between Ban Don Phu and the landfill, releasing a powerful stench across the neighborhood and creating serious public distress. Residents worry that if rain falls, the contaminated waste could flow into their residential area and damage community sanitation. After the incident, Soranarin Wonganu, a member of the Udon Thani Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) council, filed a formal complaint with investigators to track down the perpetrator and pursue legal action.
Wonganu disclosed that in the early morning hours of July 28, 2569, residents alerted him to the illegal dumping, estimated to have occurred between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. When residents inspected the area, they found sewage scattered across the entire road surface with an overwhelming smell. Tire tracks indicated the waste had been intentionally dumped, and the perpetrator had already fled. Wonganu noted that while there are few septic trucks operating in the area, there is currently insufficient evidence to identify the specific person responsible. The complaint was filed as a record, and a warning was issued to the perpetrator to cease such behavior due to its serious impact on the public.
The PAO believes the dumping was deliberate and intentional rather than accidental, as illegal dumpers typically choose remote or roadside areas rather than dumping directly onto a newly constructed concrete road surface. The action has left the road filthy with an overpowering odor. Additionally, with the current rainy season, heavy rainfall could wash the sewage into residential areas, creating serious public health and sanitation problems affecting a wide population. "I have filed this complaint as an official record today," Wonganu stated. "If we find evidence of this happening again or identify who is responsible, we will pursue the fullest legal action to prevent such incidents from affecting our communities in the future."
