At 9:00 p.m. on November 6, 2026, Lieutenant Chanchai Wanraek, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at Nong Ya Plong Police Station in Phetchaburi Province, received a report of a fatal stabbing at an unnumbered house in a eucalyptus plantation, Village 2, Nong Ya Plong Subdistrict, Nong Ya Plong District, Phetchaburi. He rushed to the scene with Police Captain Yongyot Sithisarn, the station chief, investigators, a duty doctor from Nong Ya Plong Hospital, and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Saeng Phetchatham Foundation.
At the front door of the house, they found the body of Mr. Phaitoon, 57, the homeowner, lying dead in a pool of blood with a knife wound to the left side of his ribcage. The perpetrator was identified as Mr. Peeranat, 24, the victim's son. After the incident, he did not flee but called the police himself and stood by to surrender. The murder weapon, a knife, had been thrown into a grassy hollow about 10 meters from the house.
During questioning, Ms. Samroeng, 47, the victim's wife, stated that her husband frequently drank alcohol and was often drunk. He also habitually spoke harshly and quarreled with family members, causing regular domestic disputes. Compounded by stress over household expenses and debt, he drank even more heavily.
Before the incident, the victim had been drinking heavily and went to lie down in the bedroom. When their eldest son returned from work, the victim came out to argue about household matters, leading to a heated verbal confrontation that escalated into the fatal violence.
Mr. Peeratat, the perpetrator, stated that he and his father often argued because his father frequently drank and became drunk. On the day of the incident, he had just returned from work and saw his father verbally abusing his mother. Feeling upset and unable to tolerate seeing his mother insulted, he grabbed a knife from inside the house and stabbed his father until he collapsed and died. He then called the police and waited to turn himself in.
