Tae Nattaporn Delighted by Fan Love for Kamkaew Character
Thai actress Tae Nattaporn shares her delight that fans still fondly remember her iconic character Kamkaew from the Nakee series, even approaching her to jokingly ask about snakes. At a recent Beautrium anniversary event in Bangkok, she discussed the mixed reception to the new film Nakee 3: Krut Nakee, emphasizing the importance of accepting both praise and criticism as part of the collaborative filmmaking process.
Actress Tae Nattaporn is pleased that while the movie 'Nakee 3: Krut Nakee' is currently in theaters, fans still remember her character 'Kamkaew.' When they meet her, they still come up and playfully ask if she has snakes with her.
Recently, lead actress 'Tae Nattaporn' attended the 'Beautrium 15th Anniversary Beauty Together' event at Siam Square Walking Street and spoke about this.
How has the response been to 'Krut Nakee' since its release? "Tae says many people have been waiting to go see it. Every time I meet fans, they say they'll go watch it. I'm like, 'Oh, go watch it then,' because it's been 10 years already. It's a great opportunity that, on the 10th anniversary, we have the 'Nakee' project back for everyone to relieve their nostalgia."
Does everyone still love the character Kamkaew just the same? "Yes, she's still talked about, and she's still the 'Queen of Nakee' in many people's hearts. Whether it's little kids or teenagers, they still call me 'Queen of Nakee,' and I'm happy about that."
If you go upcountry [Isan], do people call you Kamkaew? "It's varied. 'Kamkaew, do you have snakes? What's next?' (Do you have snakes?) Really. Even when I go buy food, they'll say, 'Hey, do you have snakes? Did you bring snakes with you?'"
As an actor, with feedback this good, and many people remembering your characters, how does Tae feel? "I feel it's a good opportunity that we got roles to present these things, and they've become like images stuck with us. Tae says as an actor, no matter what work we do, we want people to remember us, to be impressed, whether it's about the character or the actor. We feel fulfilled. You have to truly embody the role to feel that the feeling is even more than this."
But there's another side where they feel the movie didn't quite land. As an actor, how do you view that? "Tae thinks we must listen to both sides. Whether it's a show or entertainment work, there must be both creators and viewers. Therefore, we must listen to both sides. Tae thinks that before taking on this role, what we presented came from listening already. It's normal to have both negative and positive feedback. Whether it's the actors themselves or the organizers, everyone must be open to listening. Tae thinks everyone already has experience in this. We didn't start working together yesterday. We already know that in every job, we must be open to opinions."
Were you prepared for this from the start? "Yes. But as long as we give our all to the work, that becomes the point that lets us choose which feedback to listen to in order to make this project or the next ones better."
In terms of work, it takes a long time and is very exhausting. But if the feedback isn't what you expected, does it make you anxious? "Tae wouldn't say we don't get anxious or anything like that. For every project, no matter what work, if it's not as we hoped, there are points where we feel, 'Why? Blame myself.' But Tae wants us to see that, especially acting, entertainment work, it's not one person. It's work we do together. We decide together, many parties. Therefore, blaming only yourself isn't healthy for us at all. So we just listen, then learn from what happened. And at the point where we can move on, Tae says it's like this. It's life. There must be points that make us sad, but in the end, they give us some lessons to make things better in the days to come."
Recently, projects are available on many channels, both in theaters and streaming? "Yes, they're coming..."
