Thailand's Sports Authority released fitness test results for the 20th Asian Games team, showing that 81 percent of athletes achieved good to excellent physical condition ratings from February through June 2025. SAT Director Dr. Kongsakd Yodmaní confirmed plans for a third and final fitness assessment, aiming to upgrade all athletes to peak condition before pursuing the team's target of 15 gold medals at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2025.
All Thai Asian Games athletes must complete three mandatory physical fitness tests, with the final assessment scheduled for June 16 through August 31, 2025. After two completed rounds of testing from February through June 2025, results showed athletes rated as excellent: 25 percent, good: 56 percent, average: 16.6 percent, and below average: 2.6 percent. The authority aims to elevate athletes in average categories to good or better, and those already rated good to excellent.
"Strong physical conditioning provides the essential foundation for athletes to fully demonstrate their skills and techniques during competition," Dr. Kongsakd said. "The SAT and all 47 Thai sports federations have set a collective goal of securing no fewer than 15 gold medals at this Asian Games."
