Deputy Interior Minister Defends Relatives Amid Graft Probe
Deputy Interior Minister Vorasit Liangprasit defended his relatives against graft charges related to a stalled tourist center project in Satun province, insisting all actions followed legal procedures and that the probe won't affect his dut
At a government house press conference on July 7, 2025, Deputy Interior Minister Vorasit Liangprasit responded to the NACC's charges against his uncle Samritthi and father Somkiat regarding their failure to terminate a delayed tourist service center construction project in Khuan Don, Satun province from 2016. Vorasit said the situation arose during the COVID-19 period and that all actions followed documented facts. He emphasized that everyone must go through legal processes to prove themselves.
When asked if the investigation would damage his popularity, Vorasit said it was a separate matter entirely. He stated that popularity depends on work performance, not on family issues. If his work is poor, his popularity would already be low regardless. He expressed confidence the probe would not affect his ministerial duties, noting that everyone operates under the same laws and must prove their case through proper procedures.
Regarding speculation about cabinet reshuffles amid declining popularity ratings, Vorasit said that not only those with family connections need to contribute their best efforts. He stated there is no need to wait—everyone should already know whether they are performing at full capacity, and if not, they must accelerate their efforts.
