Thai Geology Museums Offer Free Admission on Oct 13
Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will grant free admission to five national geology museums on October 13, 2026, to commemorate the anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s passing. The museums, located in Lampang, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Pathum Thani, and Surat Thani, will open their doors to Thai citizens and visitors without charge. The initiative encourages families and youth to spend the holiday learning about geology, fossils, and mineral resources.
The minister said the free entry will be available at all geology museums under the department’s supervision on October 13, 2026, to mark the late king’s memorial day. He added that the move is intended to give the public and young people a chance to spend the holiday with family while studying geology, ancient fossils, and mineral resources. The five museums involved are: the Geology Museum in Lampang, which serves as a northern center for geology and natural history learning; the Sirinthorn Museum in Kalasin, an ASEAN‑level dinosaur and fossil research center; the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum in Khon Kaen, where Thailand’s first dinosaur was discovered; the National Geology Museum honouring His Majesty in Pathum Thani, a hub for geology, mineral resources, and nearby geoparks; and the Phunphin Geology Museum in Surat Thani, focusing on geology and geological hazards along the southern route. The department invited the public and tourists to visit the museums near their homes on the day, free of charge.
