Thai Meteorological Department Warns of Heavy Rain Across 32 Provinces
Thailand’s Meteorological Department has issued its final warning, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds across 32 provinces until 13 October 2026. The alert cites a Chinese high-pressure system and monsoon influences, raising risks of flash floods, mudslides, and high waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. Residents and mariners are urged to take precautions and monitor updates.
On 13 October 2026, the Thai Meteorological Department issued Bulletin No. 13 (259/2569), stating that heavy to very heavy rain would continue to affect various regions of Thailand due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China extending over northern Thailand and the South China Sea. The department warned that 32 provinces would experience thunderstorms, with easterly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea to the lower northeastern, central, eastern and upper southern regions, while the southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea and a monsoon trough lies over the lower south. The public is advised to guard against dangers from thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy and accumulated rain that could trigger flash floods and mudslides in hilly areas near waterways and low-lying zones. In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, waves may exceed two metres in thunderstorm areas, and mariners are urged to navigate with caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions. The agency recommended that people plan their activities and travel carefully, follow updates from the department via its website http://www.tmd.go.th or the hotlines 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours a day. This bulletin marks the final notice for this weather event.
