Thai Olympic Chief Praises Youth Cycling Championship Success

Pimol Srivikrom, chairman of the Thai Olympic Committee, praised the Thai Cycling Association for professionally staging the national children's track cycling championship, which supports families and develops young athletes from an early age. General Decha Hemkrajsri, chairman of the Thai Cycling Association, announced plans to consider holding one competition round in southern Thailand next year, as the final round has successfully selected young cyclists to represent Thailand at the Asian Championship in 2027. The livestreamed broadcasts on Facebook and YouTube accumulated over 20,000 views.

The championship final round took place on September 6, 2025, at Kamal Sports Park in Bangkok, with more than 500 young athletes aged 1 year 8 months to 11 years competing. Pimol praised the professional organization of the five-year consecutive event and commended the association for promoting family participation, noting that Thailand's cycling team continues to win international medals because athletes are developed from youth. He expressed gratitude to General Decha for the invitation and encouraged continued success for Thai cycling.

General Decha stated that the final round received strong positive response from parents and athletes across all regions of Thailand. Parents from the southern region requested that competitions be held in the south due to travel difficulties to Bangkok, noting that a previous competition in Surat Thani province attracted many participants. The association is considering allocating one competition round to the southern region while maintaining main venues at Kamal Sports Park and Central Korat shopping center in Nakhon Ratchasima province. He also encouraged the young representatives heading to the 2027 Asian championship to train well and prepare to compete against athletes from other Asian nations, noting that several provinces have organized parades for their representatives.
