Thailand's defending champion sepak takraw team swept South Korea 3-0 in the opening round of the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, with all three squad combinations winning their matches.
The 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan began its sepak takraw competition on September 20 with the men's team event opening round in Group A. Thailand, the defending seven-time champion, faced South Korea and the Thai team showcased exceptional form, sweeping all three matches 3-0. Team A with Thanapol Sauyaen (striker), Krishnapong Nonthakoet (server), and Wuthinan Kamsenah (setter) defeated South Korea 2-0 with set scores of 15-4 and 15-12. Team B's Pichetsathorn Pansaen (striker), Sittipong Kamchan (server), and Vichai Temkoet (setter) won 2-1 with scores of 16-17, 15-13, and 17-15. Team C's Phuttawan Soap (striker), Pornthep Thinbangbon (server), and Mrukkarin Panmakorn (setter) won 2-0 with set scores of 15-8 and 15-11.
