At 9:30 a.m. on September 20, Muang Chonburi Police received a report of a body found in roadside grass near Soi Pa Cha Aek in Nong Ri Subdistrict, Muang District, Chonburi Province. Police and rescue volunteers from the Trikun Tham Foundation rushed to the scene, located approximately 100 meters into a dense overgrown forest. They discovered the body of a 65-year-old man named Thongporn (surname withheld by request), lying face-up. Officers secured the area and gathered evidence for the investigation into the exact cause of death.
According to a relative, Nimit (surname withheld), Thongporn had been missing from home since September 17. After realizing he was gone, the family grew increasingly concerned and began searching every day, particularly along the routes he regularly walked. Despite their efforts over approximately three days, they found no sign of him or any leads.
Thongporn was known to be a heavy drinker, which heightened the family's worry when he disappeared. On the morning of September 20, while searching again, family members detected an unusual smell coming from the overgrown forest and decided to investigate. They discovered his body and contacted authorities.
The discovery brought the family's three-day search to a devastating end. Police have completed their initial investigation at the scene and taken statements from relatives.
