Search Teams Find Missing Man Dead in Mountain Stream
A 35-year-old forager from Kalasin province was found dead in a mountain stream in Phu Faek forest after slipping into a whirlpool basin while gathering food with a friend on September 9.
Search teams have found the body of a 35-year-old man who went missing while foraging in the Phu Faek forest with a friend. Officials discovered his remains at Kaeng Ee Toy, a whirlpool basin in the area, at around 8 a.m. on September 10. Authorities believe he accidentally slipped and was swept into the swirling water by a forest stream, becoming trapped and unable to escape.
Anant, 35, from Phu Lan Chang sub-district in Na Khu district, Kalasin province, disappeared on the afternoon of September 9 while foraging. The search proved difficult due to the mountainous terrain with multiple streams and water basins, requiring rescue teams to exercise extreme caution. Officials spent approximately two hours carefully extracting the body from the remote location and reaching the base of the mountain by 10:10 a.m.
The search operation involved multiple agencies including Metatham Rescue Unit, Manhin Rescue Unit, Border Patrol Police, Department of Forestry officials, Na Khu Police Station, and local residents. The multi-agency effort continued overnight until the body was successfully recovered and removed from the area. Following standard procedures, officials coordinated with the family to allow them to take the deceased for religious rites, while further investigations into the exact circumstances and cause of death are ongoing.
