Thai Women's Relay Team Wins Silver at Asian Games
Thailand's women's 4×100-metre relay team won silver at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, setting a team record in a tight race against Japan and three other nations.
Thailand's women's 4×100-metre relay team claimed a silver medal at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on 28 September at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. The team of Manasda Saramono, Sukanda Petchruk, Suphanich Pulgert, and Jiraphat Khaanontao surged past Japan to claim the medal in a thrilling final.
After the race, Suphanich Pulgert said the pressure was intense because the times were so close among four nations, but the team succeeded and set a team record. Manasda Saramono expressed confidence in the team and joy at competing in her first Asian Games, saying her teammates and coach believed in her abilities. Sukanda Petchruk acknowledged the pressure of competing as a young team with new techniques, but credited their experience for the victory. Jiraphat Khaanontao revealed that in the final handoff she was anxious because the times were equal, but the team's technical skill—which delivered gold at the Southeast Asian Games—came through again.
Khaanontao also shared that she has plans to visit temples in her home province of Surin to make merit offerings in gratitude for the medal.
