On September 26, Theeraphattana Katmaat, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, announced that severe flooding has inundated Ayutthaya Province following increased water releases from the Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat Province, combined with heavy rainfall across the region. Rising water levels in the Chao Phraya River, Mun River, Pa Sak River, Lopburi River, and various canals have overflowed into residential areas, temples, mosques, government offices, agricultural land, roads, and public facilities, causing widespread hardship.
Ayutthaya Province declared an emergency disaster relief zone, but existing emergency advance funds allocated to the provincial governor proved insufficient. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation therefore requested additional funding from the Comptroller General's Department, which today approved an expansion of emergency advance funds by 50 million baht under the authority of the Ayutthaya Provincial Governor.
These funds will cover living expenses and disaster relief operations to ensure rapid, comprehensive, and timely assistance to affected residents. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has coordinated with Ayutthaya Province to process aid in compliance with the Finance Ministry's emergency advance fund regulations, ensuring continuous and swift delivery to all affected citizens.
