The Department of Cultural Promotion announced winners of the 2026 Thailand Board Game Design Contest, themed on Thai traditions and folk games, at SF World Cinema on the eighth floor of Central World in Bangkok's Pathumwan district. Deputy Director-General Suraphan Charoenthap chaired the awards ceremony, organized jointly with the Thai Board Game Association (TBGA). "This event promotes Thailand's cultural capital and soft power by developing board games as contemporary creative media," Suraphan said. "Board games reach all audiences and can educate younger generations about local food, culture, and traditions while inspiring foreign players to visit Thailand and boosting the economy."
The grand prize winner was Hide and Seek from the Time2Play team, receiving 100,000 baht plus 150,000 baht in production funding. Second place went to Khun Pret's Deal from the Black Dog and Striped Cat team (50,000 baht plus 100,000 baht funding), and third place to Takichub from RememberT (20,000 baht plus 50,000 baht funding). Special awards included Above the Cloud (Honorable Mention), Ghost War (Popular Vote), and Khun Pret's Deal (Artwork/Presentation).
TBGA President Wattanchai Trideecha noted that this was the contest's third year, with 194 entries submitted. He highlighted that at least two games have attracted interest from publishers for commercial production. The winning game will be showcased at the Thai Pavilion at SPIEL in Essen, Germany, the world's largest board game festival. The awards ceremony also featured panels on cultural businesses and the global board game market.
