Agriculture Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit led the Agricultural and Cooperative Policy and Development Board's first 2025 meeting, which approved opening agricultural markets for onion seeds, large onions, potato seedlings, fresh potatoes for processing, and garlic under WTO agreements covering 2025–2027 and 2026–2027 respectively. The meeting also endorsed coffee bean and coffee product import management principles, with instructions for relevant agencies to review measures for promoting and strengthening domestic production capacity. Agricultural output is projected to grow 1.1 percent this year, driven by factors including water management, disaster preparedness, pest and disease control, and technology promotion. The ministry will continue monitoring climate change impacts and global economic volatility to minimize effects on farmers.
