Thailand Equestrian Team Wins Gold After 28 Years
Thailand's equestrian eventing team won their first gold medal in the sport in 28 years at the Asian Games in Tokyo, with Veerapat Pitakannont also claiming individual silver.
Thailand's equestrian eventing team claimed their fifth gold medal for the country at the 20th Asian Games in Tokyo, Japan on September 23. The men's team, consisting of Korathawat Samran with B.Grimm Billy Elmy, Suphap Khaoganam with Vinetto 3, Voraprachaya Sittisoo with B.Grimm Uster de Chanay, and Veerapat Pitakannont with B.Grimm Carnival March, scored 109.90 points. This marks the first gold medal for Thai equestrian eventing in 28 years, following a previous victory at the 1998 Asian Games in Thailand won by Fuangvichai Anirutthadeeva, Withai Lai Thumya, Nagorn Kamalsiree, and Mana Songkratoke. In addition, Veerapat also won an individual silver medal with a score of 30.10 points, while Tian Hua of China and Yashiaki Oiwata of Japan took the gold and bronze medals respectively.
