Thailand Exports 20 Health Brands to India Market
Thailand's 20 health and herbal brands are expanding into India's market through a new partnership framework signed at the Bharat Nutraverse Expo in New Delhi, combining Thai agricultural innovation with Indian Ayurvedic expertise.
Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suthep Thaugsuban announced that 20 Thai entrepreneurs participated in the Bharat Nutraverse Expo 2026 in New Delhi on September 9, 2026, with a dedicated Thailand Pavilion showcasing Thai capabilities in herbal products, health foods, functional foods, and nutraceuticals. The initiative seeks to connect Thai businesses with Indian counterparts through co-creation models that leverage raw materials, knowledge, and innovation from both countries to expand into global markets. An MOU was signed between India's Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council and Thailand's Thai Herbal Industry Association to advance cooperation in herbal and health product sectors.
Suthep emphasized that India excels in herbal plant resources, biodiversity, and Ayurvedic knowledge, while Thailand has strong biodiversity, agricultural base, food industry infrastructure, and food innovation capabilities. He stressed that the partnership aims to create genuine collaboration rather than one-way trade, enabling both countries to develop new products and services that can reach third-country markets.
The MOU signing represents a concrete step toward partnership, with Dr. Debjani Roy of SHEFEXIL and Nakharn Thawichawatn, chair of the Dietary Supplement Products Group and Health and Beauty Industry Cluster at the Thai Chamber of Commerce, as signatories. The agreement promotes knowledge exchange, innovation development, trade, and investment between the herbal and nutraceutical industries of both nations.
Suthep noted that the MOU leverages industry association mechanisms in the supply chains of both countries, enhancing information flow on market needs and regulatory standards, and building supply chain agility. This public-private partnership framework aims to serve as a bridge connecting Thai and Indian businesses while establishing a foundation for long-term cooperation, including trade facilitation and technology exchange.
