Thai Bank TTB Survey: 82% Of Salaried Workers In Debt
Over 82% of Thai salaried workers carry debt with more than half lacking emergency savings, prompting TTB bank to launch financial wellness seminars and expanded support programs to improve workers' financial health nationwide.
Thai bank TTB has released survey findings showing that 82% of salaried workers nationwide carry debt burdens, with more than half lacking emergency savings. Natthawan Abhirattanaphimolchai, head of TTB's retail customer strategy and sales group, announced the launch of a seminar titled "Financial Well-being for the Future Salaryman 2026" to reinforce the bank's commitment to creating meaningful financial improvements for employees and salaried workers across Thailand. The event attracted senior executives and human resources leaders from major organizations across various industries, all aiming to provide comprehensive financial well-being solutions that address the needs of workers at every career stage, from entry-level to retirement.
According to Natthawan, salaried workers today face mounting financial challenges while significant gaps remain between financial perception and reality. TTB aims to provide comprehensive support to help workers at all levels achieve better financial health. The bank's TTB Financial Health Check survey of salaried workers nationwide revealed critical vulnerabilities: 80% lack adequate financial protection, 54% have no emergency savings to cover expenses for at least six months, 82% carry debt, and 65% pay only minimum payments on their obligations. These findings highlight the urgent need for proper financial knowledge and tools.
By late July 2025, TTB has already supported over 144,000 customers with financial health checks, trained nearly 10,000 in financial literacy, and provided basic protection through its TTB All-Free deposit account with accident insurance covering more than 2.3 million people. For 2025, TTB plans to expand support to workers building financial security by developing products and services that help employees accumulate their first million baht, considered a critical milestone for financial success. The bank introduced its "Protect & Beyond" approach, offering innovative life insurance products with AI-assisted wealth growth, tax benefits, and principal protection, combined with affordable health coverage options suited for salaried workers.
