Massage Shop Accused Of Scamming Customer With Fake Premium Service
A massage shop in Bangkok's Ladprao-Wang Hin area allegedly scammed a customer by offering a premium service for 600 baht but providing less than a minute of work, then pressuring him with threats when he refused to pay.
On September 9, a 34-year-old man identified as Mr. A filed a complaint with the Sai Mai Must Survive community page after being allegedly defrauded at a well-known massage shop in the Ladprao-Wang Hin area. He says staff offered him a premium massage service but provided less than one minute of actual service before claiming time was up and demanding full payment. When he refused to pay, he was surrounded and pressured by staff members.
Mr. A explained that he had visited the shop two or three times previously without incident. This time he agreed to a standard Thai massage at 400 baht per hour. After the massage began, a female staff member offered an add-on premium massage service for 1,000 baht. He negotiated the price down to 600 baht and accepted.
However, the premium service lasted less than one minute. The staff member only touched his genitals briefly before stopping and announcing "time's up," then demanded full payment for the premium service. Mr. A noted that he entered the shop around 9:00 p.m. and the massage started at 9:03 p.m., but the staff ended it at 9:40 p.m.—still short of a full hour for the standard massage. He suspected deliberate fraud.
When Mr. A refused to pay for the service he didn't receive, the female staff member threatened him, saying she would not let him leave the room. He went to the front of the shop to negotiate but was surrounded by approximately three more female staff members who pressured and yelled at him to pay. When none of his explanations were heard and he remarked "Do you know who I am?", the staff's attitude softened and they allowed him to pay only the standard 400-baht rate before leaving.
Mr. A concluded that the incident constituted extortion and consumer fraud, and suspected other customers may have fallen victim to the same scheme. He decided to file the complaint to alert the public.
