Thailand Go League 2026 Draws Over 350 Competitors

The Thailand Go League 2026, the 13th edition of Thailand's premier go competition, has launched with over 350 skilled players from 46 teams vying for trophies and prize money worth more than 1 million baht. The event is organized by the Thailand Go Sports Association in partnership with CP All Public Company Limited and leading partner organizations. Wichian Chungvirote, president of the Thailand Go Sports Association, presided over the opening ceremony and highlighted the advancement of go sports in Thailand. "The Thailand Go League has now run continuously for 13 years, and 2026 marks the largest and most comprehensive edition to date, with over 350 athletes participating," he said. "This year is also historic as we launch the Women's League for the first time, creating dedicated competition for female go players and demonstrating our commitment to promoting and empowering women in the sport."

Wichian noted that the Thailand Go League serves as a key mechanism supporting the association's four-pillar development strategy: Network, connecting teams from schools and go institutions nationwide; Go Star, nurturing rising talent through continuous league competition; Sponsorship, opening doors to new sponsors to sustain growth; and Branding, strengthening Thailand's go reputation internationally through large-scale league operations.

The 2026 competition is organized into four leagues: Grand League (8 teams), Women's League (8 teams, inaugural year), Academy League (8 teams), and School League divided into Division A and Division B (10 teams each). Competition runs over five days: September 5-6 and October 3, 10-11, 2026, concluding with a closing ceremony.
