Bangkok, together with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Thai Olympic Committee, and the National Sports Development Fund, held a closing ceremony for the Bangkok Provincial Championship for the 2025 fiscal year on September 9, 2025, at the Rajaphruek Club in Lat Phrao District. The event served not only as the conclusion to the provincial competition but also as a showcase of inter-sectoral collaboration in developing Thai sports from youth and local levels through to national team athletes. It aimed to boost morale for Thailand's athletic contingent ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.
Government officials, sports organizations, athletes, and dignitaries attended the ceremony, which highlighted the importance of building a grassroots foundation to identify and nurture the next generation of athletes. Surasak Panjasajaravikul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated that the event plays a crucial role in raising awareness about the significance of the Asian Games, a stage where athletes from across Asia will demonstrate their abilities and sportsmanship. "In the coming days, Thai athletes will take to the field. This event is part of building morale, encouragement, and pride, so everyone is ready to perform at their best," he said.
The ministry continues to support athlete development through the Sports Authority and the National Sports Development Fund. Officials also commended Thailand's women's volleyball team for defeating China, calling it a significant source of inspiration for Thai sports.
Bangkok Governor Chatcart Sittipunt emphasized that the city prioritizes sports as a tool for improving residents' quality of life. Bangkok has consistently supported the Bangkok Sports Association, which now ranks among the top medal-winning provinces in both national and youth competitions and has been recognized by the Sports Authority as an outstanding provincial sports association.
The city's goal extends beyond producing elite athletes; it aims to ensure all residents across the 50 districts have access to exercise opportunities. "Sports is for all Bangkok residents," the governor noted, to promote good health, reduce medical expenses, and help identify new talent for Thailand's national teams in the future.
Pimol Sriviroj, Chairman of the Thai Olympic Committee, emphasized that athlete preparation covers all aspects, including training, physical fitness, mental conditioning, sports science, and nutrition. Team management focuses on ensuring athletes "eat well, live well, and get adequate rest and sleep" while maintaining full focus on competition. Comprehensive support includes travel, accommodation, hydration, and medical care to ensure athletes enter competition with confidence. "We want every athlete to compete knowing that all of Thailand is supporting them,"
