On August 21, 2025, at the permanent Khlong Luk border crossing in Sakaew province, security forces received 44 Thai nationals—27 men, 16 women, and one child—who had been pardoned and released by Cambodian authorities. Among them, five individuals were found to have a combined total of 11 outstanding arrest warrants. Upon arrival in Thailand, these five were taken into custody and transferred to police for legal proceedings, while the remaining 39 Thai nationals, who had no criminal records, were assisted in returning to their hometowns.
The authorities also deported 35 Cambodian nationals who had illegally crossed the border in search of work. Investigation revealed that most had entered through natural border passages seeking employment inland before being apprehended and processed for deportation.
The operation was coordinated by the Thai-Cambodian Border Liaison Office in cooperation with Sakaew immigration officials and local administration. The temporary opening of the Khlong Luk crossing facilitated the orderly processing of all individuals, with strict security measures maintained throughout.
