Thailand and Cambodia Exchange 135 Prisoners at Border
Thailand and Cambodia exchanged 135 prisoners at their shared border crossing in Sa Kaeo Province, with each country repatriating nationals who had completed their sentences or concluded cases.
Thai and Cambodian officials exchanged prisoners on the Thailand-Cambodia Friendship Bridge at the Ban Khlong Luek border crossing in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province, on September 9. Cambodia returned 66 Thai nationals whose cases had been concluded, while Thailand repatriated 69 Cambodian nationals who had completed their sentences. Thailand coordinated the operation involving multiple agencies including the Buriram Forces, the 12th Rangers Control Unit, Sa Kaeo Immigration, Aranyaprathet Customs, Thai-Cambodian liaison officers, and security units. The Cambodian side received the repatriated prisoners on their territory. Officials stated the exchange was conducted on humanitarian grounds and represents part of an ongoing cooperation framework between Thailand and Cambodia.
