Thailand's Budget Spending Exceeds Target at 3.66 Trillion Baht
Thailand's Finance Ministry reported that budget disbursement for fiscal year 2026 exceeded the target, reaching 3.66 trillion baht. Total spending amounted to 4.178 trillion baht, or 101.86% of the approved budget, with investment disbursements surpassing the 75% goal. The ministry credited the results to accelerated spending policies and close oversight.
Patrizia Mongkolvanich explained that for the 2026 fiscal year, the approved budget was 3.781 trillion baht, but actual spending reached 3.868 trillion baht, exceeding the target by 2.31%. Regular expenditures amounted to 3.088 trillion baht (102.99% of the regular budget), while investment spending totaled 779.62 billion baht, slightly below the full target at 99.71%. However, the amount actually disbursed for investment came to 586.94 billion baht, or 75.07% of the investment budget, surpassing the 75% disbursement goal. Carry‑over funds from the previous fiscal year totaled 320.67 billion baht, of which 309.64 billion baht was committed and 299.07 billion baht was disbursed, leaving 21.59 billion baht unused. The Finance Ministry attributed the strong performance to policies pushed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister EkNit Nitithammaprasad and close monitoring by the Comptroller General's Department.
