Thailand's Meteorological Department Warns 43 Provinces of Heavy Rainfall

Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued warnings for 43 provinces as heavy rain threatens the central and eastern regions, Bangkok and surrounding areas, with 80 percent of these zones expected to experience heavy downpours, flash floods, and flooding. On September 24, 2025, the Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain across the lower northern, northeastern, central, Bangkok and greater Bangkok, and eastern regions over the next 24 hours, with very heavy rain in some areas. The southern region is expected to see heavy rain in northern parts. The weather is being driven by a strong low-pressure system over Cambodia moving along monsoon troughs crossing the lower central and eastern regions, combined with intensifying southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, southern region, and Gulf of Thailand, while high-pressure systems and cold air masses over the upper north and upper northeast are weakening. Upper Gulf of Thailand waves are moderately strong at 2-3 meters high, while the lower Gulf and upper Andaman Sea see approximately 2-meter waves, with thunderstorm areas experiencing waves exceeding 3 meters. Fishermen in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are instructed to navigate cautiously, avoid thunderstorm zones, and small boats in the upper Gulf should remain ashore through September 27, 2025. The Meteorological Department forecast for Thailand from 06.00 today to 06.00 tomorrow covers: Northern region with 30 percent thunderstorm coverage and heavy rain in some areas, particularly in Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, and Phetchabun provinces, with temperatures ranging from 21-26 to 34-36 degrees Celsius and easterly winds at 10-20 km/h. Northeastern region with 60 percent thunderstorm coverage and heavy rain in some areas across Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani, with very heavy rain in some areas of Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, and Surin, temperatures from 23-25 to 30-35 degrees Celsius and northeasterly winds at 10-25 km/h. Central region with 80 percent thunderstorm coverage and heavy rain across Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Lopburi, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Samut Songkhram, with very heavy rain in some areas of Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Sakhon, temperatures from 23-25 to 31-34 degrees Celsius and variable winds at 10-25 km/h. Eastern region with 80 percent thunderstorm coverage, heavy rain across many areas, and very heavy rain in some areas of Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Sa Kaew, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat, temperatures from 22-24 to 27-30 degrees Celsius, variable winds at 20-40 km/h, sea waves 2-3 meters high with thunderstorm areas exceeding 3 meters. Southern region (east coast) with 70 percent thunderstorm coverage and heavy rain in some areas of Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Surat Thani, temperatures from 22-24 to 29-33 degrees Celsius.
