Nakhon Sawan will host the Thai National Snooker Championship with a prize pool exceeding 1.5 million baht. The Nakhon Sawan Sports Association, Nakhon Sawan Municipality, and the Thai Billiards and Snooker Association have converted a 4,000-seat gymnasium at Nakhon Sawan Sports Stadium into the competition venue. Thirty-two top-ranked players from across Thailand will compete to determine the nation's best snooker talent this year. Lawmakers Sanya Nilsuphon and Chada Taiserit will lead the team of renowned players including Nonpol Saengkham (recent China Open runner-up), Thephchai Ununu (World Open champion), Wattana Phuaobom (former world number 3), and Panchaya Chanthon (women's world champion), along with other members of the Thai national snooker team. The press conference was held on August 23 at V-Square shopping centre in Nakhon Sawan, with Nakhon Sawan Governor Chutiporn Sechang presiding. She stated that the province has received full cooperation from all sectors to organize this competition, with the objective of developing athletes to reach the highest levels in Thailand and internationally, while promoting snooker throughout the country. Competition will run from September 1–6. Sanya, as chairman of the Nakhon Sawan Snooker Sports Club and organizer of the Professional Division 1 National Championship, expressed gratitude to the Thai Billiards and Snooker Association for selecting Nakhon Sawan as host. He emphasized that the event aims to prepare athletes for international competition, establish world-class management standards, and provide financial stability and skill development for snooker players. This is the final championship of the qualifying circuit, with 32 qualified players competing for over 1.5 million baht in prize money. Chada noted that the Professional Division 1 National Championship represents an important platform for skilled snooker players nationwide to demonstrate their abilities and advance the standards of Thai snooker in both athlete performance and competition management.

Miss Universe West, one of the two equal partners in the Miss Universe Organization, has publicly backed Miss Universe 2025 Fátima Bosch amid her legal dispute with Nawat Itsaragrisil, saying women should not have to remain silent to protect their opportunities, positions or dreams.

The statement comes after Nawat Itsaragrisil said on social media that efforts were under way to expedite an arrest warrant for Bosch, the Mexican winner of Miss Universe 2025, in connection with allegations of defamation and spreading false information. Nawat posted an image of what appears to be a Thai police document relating to the case.

"Violence, intimidation, humiliation, disrespect and mistreatment of women in any form are unacceptable," the organisation said. "No woman should ever feel that she must stay silent in order to protect an opportunity, a legal position or a dream."

The organisation said Bosch had spoken out to defend her dignity over the way she was treated by Nawat, adding that her actions carried a broader message for women. "When Fátima Bosch raised her voice to defend her dignity following the treatment she received from Mr Nawat Itsaragrisil, she reminded women everywhere of a fundamental truth: respect is not something we earn through silence. It is a right."

The legal dispute dates back to a heated confrontation during Miss Universe 2025 activities in Bangkok on 4 November, when Nawat publicly questioned Bosch over her participation in sponsor-related events. Bosch later said Nawat had called her "dumb" during the exchange and accused him of humiliating her in front of the other contestants. Video of the confrontation went viral, and several contestants walked out in support of Bosch.

Nawat disputes that account. He says he did not call Bosch "dumb" or a "dumbhead," but instead used the word "damage" while referring to the consequences of her not taking part in scheduled activities. On 12 November 2025, Nawat filed a criminal complaint against Bosch in Thailand, alleging that she had repeatedly made false claims about what he said in subsequent media interviews and had damaged his reputation and that of Miss Grand International. Miss Universe Thailand later publicly confirmed the complaint.

Bosch has continued to stand by her account of the confrontation. In a December interview with ABC's Nightline, she said Nawat had tried to humiliate her publicly and recalled telling him that he could not call her "dumb."

The latest development came on Saturday, when Nawat said efforts were under way to obtain an arrest warrant for Bosch in connection with the case. An arrest warrant has not been independently confirmed. In its statement, the Miss Universe Organization (West) said the pageant had always been about more than a stage, crown or competition, describing it as a global community where women from different countries, cultures and generations come together.

The project, dedicated to His Majesty the King's birthday as a royal merit offering, aims to provide stable, safe housing and improved quality of life for the poor and disadvantaged.

The first house was given to Samruay Usuadee, a 4-member household from Khok Ngieo Village in Phothairinthon Subdistrict. She works as a casual laborer, is hardworking, and has no involvement with drugs. The second house was presented to Tuk Misunthia, a 7-member household from Nong Khu Subdistrict, who also works as a casual laborer and serves as a village health volunteer.

Sophon Saramun expressed gratitude to village committees and all involved in building homes for the poor. He announced that each beneficiary family also received 20,000 baht in professional development funds to support future income-generating activities.

Police Reshuffles Leadership Posts, Moves 'Big Man' to Deputy Chief with Three Additional Senior Promotions. On August 23, 2569, Thai national police headquarters held a promotional board meeting chaired by Police Chief General Kitti Rat Panthet to consider appointments of police officers to posts ranging from Assistant Police Chief and Metropolitan Police Deputy Commander down to division commander level for the year 2569. All interested parties were strictly barred from the meeting. The board reviewed three vacant Deputy Police Chief positions and selected candidates according to seniority: Deputy Assistant Police Chief Nopwat Ariyangkul, Metropolitan Police Deputy Commander Thanapol Srisopha, and Assistant Police Chief Kritsada Surachet. In addition, General Itthipol Atchareeyapradit, or 'Big Man,' currently National Police Bureau Chief, has been transferred to Primary Deputy Police Chief, and Deputy Commander Thanapol Srisopha has been promoted to National Police Bureau Chief in his place.

Nearly 38% of respondents in a new NIDA Poll believe Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's government will not survive a series of political and economic challenges, with alleged corruption in local government recruitment identified as the biggest threat to its stability.

The National Institute of Development Administration released the survey, titled "So Many Problems, Will It Survive?", on Sunday. The poll was conducted from 18–20 August among 1,310 people aged 18 and over across Thailand.

Asked which issues could affect the stability of the Anutin government, 62.75% cited alleged corruption in local government civil service recruitment examinations, the most commonly selected concern. Another 55.88% pointed to allegations of collusion in the Senate election, while 42.29% cited scrutiny by MPs over the Khao Kradong land dispute.

Other concerns included volatility in energy prices, cited by 37.33%; the Thailand-Cambodia conflict, 33.36%; the government's plan to spend funds under a 400-billion-baht borrowing decree, 28.78%; and fluctuations in agricultural commodity prices, 28.17%. Restrictions on gun ownership were cited by 25.27% of respondents, while 24.27% pointed to stricter eligibility requirements for the 2026 state welfare card programme.

Another 22.98% cited illegal activities by foreigners in Thailand, while 18.17% pointed to scrutiny of the Digital Economy and Society Ministry's TH-AI Passport project. Only 5.34% said none of the issues appeared serious enough to threaten the government's stability.

Asked how well the government could deal with the challenges, 39.69% said it would be able to handle some of them, while 31.99% said it would not be able to handle any. Another 16.26% believed the government could handle all of the issues, while 11.68% said it could handle most of them. Just 0.38% did not know or declined to answer.

On whether the government itself would survive the challenges, 37.86% said it "definitely would not survive", the largest single group. Another 26.03% believed the government would survive but be seriously weakened, while 17.94% said it would survive with only minor damage. A further 17.71% believed the government would comfortably survive, while 0.46% did not know or declined to answer.

The poll also asked respondents about Anutin's recent gesture of bowing and paying respect at the lap of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The largest group, 41.45%, regarded it simply as a younger person showing respect to an elder, while 29.62% described it as political theatre. Another 21.60% said the incident showed that there are "no permanent friends or permanent enemies in politics", while 17.48% believed Anutin was seeking Thaksin's support.

Some 12.21% said the gesture demonstrated Thaksin's continuing political influence, while 9.62% saw it as a signal that the Pheu Thai Party would continue to support Anutin. Meanwhile, 9.31% said they disapproved of the gesture.

Lion Motorsport Thailand concluded Round 6 of the TSS The Super Series By B-Quik 2026 at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia with dominant first and second-place finishes in the Supercar GT3 class on August 23, 2024.

In the 60-minute race, the Ferrari 296 GT3 number 89 started from grid 2 with Carlo van Dam driving the opening stint before handing over to Vorawuth, while the Honda NSX GT3 number 12 started from grid 4 with Kanatsak Kusiri driving initially before passing to Piti in the second half.

After the pit stop, Vorawuth was in second place and Piti in third as both drivers pressured the leading number 888 car of B-Quik Absolute Racing. On the final lap, Piti and Vorawuth successfully overtook the leader. Piti crossed the finish line first in the Honda NSX GT3 number 12, followed by Vorawuth in second place in the Ferrari 296 GT3 number 89, giving Lion Motorsport Thailand a commanding 1-2 finish.

Following this round, the Piti-Kanatsak pairing leads the GT3 championship with 127 points, while Vorawuth-Carlo hold third place with 77 points. The next round of TSS The Super Series By B-Quik 2026 will take place from October 30 to November 1, 2024 in Buriram Province.
