On August 18, 2026, at Icon Siam in Bangkok, Siam Sirimongkol, Director-General of the Department of Community Development, opened the Young Designer 2026 Thai textile design competition at the central regional level, joined by Orcira Sirimongkol, chair of the Community Development Women's Club, department executives, and leading designers and experts.

Participants included Araya Intra, a fashion consultant and stylist; Sirichai Toranon, a Thai textile specialist and owner of the THEATRE brand; Dr. Karakod Kamsuk, associate dean for special affairs at Srinakharinwirot University's School of Creative Industries; Thanavudh Thanasaravimol, designer and owner of TandT; Janesuda Pantoem, designer and owner of Janesuda brand; Saralakshan Tikkhapanya, designer and owner of Archive 026; and Phakprom Sukhakhet, designer and owner of TR Tailor.

The Young Designer 2026 project reflects the Department of Community Development's commitment to advancing the royal initiative "Thai Textiles Worn with Joy" promoted by Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. The program aims to develop and elevate the quality of Thai textile products by strengthening design skills and knowledge among manufacturers, OTOP entrepreneurs in textiles and apparel, students, and the younger generation. The goal is to create beautiful, modern Thai textiles suitable for all genders, ages, and occasions that meet global market demand. This year received 652 complete applications across all rounds, with 88 advancing past the initial selection round.

For the central regional competition, 39 contestants or teams from 223 total entrants advanced to present sketch illustrations and storyboards or mood boards to expert judges. At least 10 central regional representatives will be selected to compete in the national finals scheduled for October 27, 2026, in Bangkok.

Pinpak Chiangsuwan, an emerging Thai mountain biker, delivered a strong performance by winning silver in the women's under-23 category at the Seoul International Mountain Bike Challenge 2026 in Malaysia, earning points toward qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The Thai mountain biking team overall secured two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.

General Decha Maikrasat, vice president of the Asian Cycling Confederation, president of the ASEAN Cycling Federation, and president of the Thai Cycling Association, revealed that Thailand's mountain bike team competed in the Asian Continental Series 2026 event in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia on August 23. The competition collected world ranking points for Olympic quota selection for Los Angeles 2028.

According to team coach Robert Herbert Jr., four categories competed: the men's open cross-country with Poonsiree Sirimongkol, men's under-23 with Pongsapira Pongayukul, women's under-23 with Pinpak Chiangsuwan and Pornpaktra Prapotheung, and masters men's with Saree Rueangsiree.

Masters men (12.8 km distance): Saree Rueangsiree won gold in 1 hour, 1 minute, 34 seconds. Second place went to Mohammad Sukri Tahir from San Dragon team at 1:04:24, and third to Affandi Nor Roslee from AGPC at 1:12:26.

Women's under-23 (16 km distance): Gold went to Elvia Tri Wurandari from the Indonesian team, a 2025 Asian Championships relay silver medalist, with a time of 1:27:20. Pinpak Chiangsuwan won silver at 1:30:40, while Pornpaktra Prapotheung took bronze at 1:37:50.

Men's open (22.4 km distance): Poonsiree competed against 14 other riders from six Asian countries but finished seventh. Men's under-23 (19.2 km distance): Pongsapira finished eleventh among 20 competitors from ten countries, with Japan's team taking gold.

Thailand's mountain bike team secured one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Combined with an earlier gold from Poonsiree in the cross-country eliminator, Thailand's total medal count reached two gold, one silver, and one bronze.

On August 23, 2025, at 14:03 hours, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by Defence Minister Anudom Boontharm, Interior Ministry officials, and senior military commanders including Army Chief Pana Kraiiwapluakthuk and Army Vice Chief Chaiyaprueksa Duangpraphat, traveled to Ubon Ratchathani province for an official inspection. According to documents from the Department of Special Investigation, coordinated groups wore yellow shirts matching Electoral Commission uniforms and used white vans, pickup trucks, and black vans registered in Buriram and Bangkok to transport voters on election day. Statistical analysis found six candidates received identical scores in 20 groups, with odds of 1 in 5.56 quintillion.

Achananon also documented duplicate ballots across multiple candidate groups—20 in Group 4, 18 in Group 9, 22 in Group 10, and 13 in Group 13. He revealed the elected Senate includes 46 former civil servants and 58 entrepreneurs, but no elderly people, disabled persons, ethnic minorities, or LGBTQ+ representatives. Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin has ordered natural resources agencies to mobilize comprehensively under a unified command structure to assist flood-affected residents in Nan Province. The minister emphasized both immediate relief efforts and rapid recovery operations to help residents return to normal life as quickly as possible.

Deputy Minister Nanthachat Supamongkol visited affected areas to monitor conditions and boost morale among residents and agency staff, reiterating the commitment to sustained assistance until the situation fully resolves.

Thirachunn Bunsit, director-general of the Department of Water Resources, activated Regional Water Resource Office 9 as the forward command center, coordinating with offices 1, 2, and 3 to deploy personnel, equipment, and machinery to villages including Ban Prang, Ban Ket, Ban Pa Had, and Ban Don in Sri Samrung district and Ban Rong in Pua District, Nan Province.
