On September 27, 2026, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security held its annual Women and Handicraft Exhibition at Siam Paragon shopping center. The event, chaired by Chanin Rungthanakit, adviser to the ministry, awarded honors and cash prizes to winners of the Young Designer for Her 2026 competition, which received 66 entries from 21 educational institutions nationwide. Twenty designs were selected, and ten winning sketches will be developed into actual garments for display at a ceremony honoring Queen Sirikit's 48th anniversary celebration.
Chanin stated that textile and handicraft development means "adding value to people," enabling women to develop skills, secure employment, and improve family and community quality of life. He emphasized that success requires collaboration between government, educational institutions, the private sector, and local communities in preserving and advancing Thai textiles while honoring their cultural heritage. The Young Designer for Her 2026 initiative provides a platform for young designers to showcase creativity through fashion design while continuing Queen Sirikit's legacy of promoting Thai crafts and improving livelihoods through traditional knowledge adapted for the contemporary market.
