On July 21, 2025, the Election Commission office announced plans to hold a by-election for the House of Representatives District 3 seat in Udon Thani province to fill the vacancy left by Rang Turapol, a Bhumjaithai Party MP who died peacefully from lung cancer at age 69. The Election Commission has submitted a draft royal decree for Cabinet consideration on the same day to authorize the election for the Udon Thani District 3 seat, which covers the areas of Sang Khom, Phen, and Mueang Udon Thani districts. The proposal follows the standard procedure when a parliamentary seat becomes vacant.
