Thailand U-20 Coach Plans Monthly Training Camps for 2027 AFC Championship
Thailand's U-20 football coach plans monthly training camps leading up to the 2027 AFC Championship in China, aiming to prepare players for strong international competition after qualifying matches.
Coach Bo Chakrapan Panyee, head coach of Thailand's under-20 men's football team, is preparing to call players into training camp every month to build readiness ahead of the 2027 AFC U-20 Championship. On September 24, the Football Association of Thailand held a meeting with coaching staff for the national U-20 team to prepare for continuous squad development before the final tournament, scheduled for March 24 to April 10, 2027 in China.
The meeting was led by Dr. Chanyawit Phoncheewin, vice president of the Football Association of Thailand, alongside Air Chief Marshal Piyapongsa Piwawan, board member and association spokesman, Coach Bo Chakrapan Panyee, and the coaching staff and technical officials of the association.
The head coach of Thailand's U-20 team said: "This meeting is a summary of our performance in the three qualifying matches of the AFC Championship and the team's plans to ensure we are as prepared as possible at the Asian level, which will be different from the qualifying rounds or the ASEAN-level football we have experienced before."
"We are planning to hold training camps every month and have more international friendly matches, because we want the players to gain experience before competing in the AFC Championship."
"We know that every team in the final round is strong. We want to prepare as best as we can and want the players to learn and strengthen themselves through international matches as much as possible."
"Many of our players are currently playing in Thailand's domestic leagues, especially the U-21 League, which is very good. The players will increase their fitness every week, develop themselves, and gain more experience. This will have a positive effect when they come to training camp—they will be able to learn the team's tactics immediately. We don't have to start from fitness basics; we can build on the training directly."
