Thailand's men's under-23 football team trained on September 22 at Isuzu Kaoka Sport Square in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, to prepare for the Asian Games 2026 men's football group-stage match against Japan. After two matches, Thailand has defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-2 and Hong Kong 5-1, securing a spot in the next round alongside Japan, making this match a group-deciding contest. The training session focused primarily on tactics for facing Japan.
Peeraphan Wongsa, Thailand's forward who has already scored three goals in the first two matches, said: "I'm happy to have scored. Right now I have confidence in myself and confidence in my teammates that we can play against Japan."
"Personally, I've faced Japan before in the U-20s. This time should be different—with age comes more experience than before. My personal goal remains to do my best as always. In this match, we must not concede easily, and I hope we can get points. I want to ask the fans to cheer for us at the Asian Games."
