Today's Weather: Increased Rain in Southern Thailand, Heavy Downpours Expected in 45 Provinces Including Bangkok
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected across 45 provinces including Bangkok and southern Thailand over the next 24 hours, with authorities warning of potential flash flooding in low-lying areas and near waterways.
The Meteorological Department issued a weather forecast on May 12, 2569 for the next 24 hours, predicting increased rainfall in southern Thailand with heavy to very heavy precipitation in some areas due to strengthening easterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand and southern region. Citizens are warned to stay alert for sudden flooding and flash flooding, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. The Gulf of Thailand expects waves around 1 meter high, with thunderstorm areas experiencing waves exceeding 2 meters; mariners should avoid sailing in thunderstorm zones.
Northern Thailand will see hot midday conditions with continued thunderstorms, strong wind gusts, and heavy rain in some northern and eastern areas as moisture is carried by southeasterly winds from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea. Residents should be cautious of thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain, while farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from potential damage, and maintain health during weather fluctuations. Dust and haze levels remain minor in northern Thailand due to rain in multiple areas.
