Truck Fire Narrowly Misses Driver on Highway 331
A fully loaded concrete pipe truck caught fire on Highway 331 in Chachoengsao province on September 4, but both the driver and passenger escaped safely before flames engulfed the cab and engine.
At 1:30 p.m. on September 4, 2569, rescue crews from Suang Haet-Thung Hiang were dispatched to a truck fire on Highway 331, between Kabinburi and Sattahip, near Koh Phi Bia in Non-Hiang subdistrict, Phanasnikam district, Chachoengsao province. Firefighters arrived to find the 22-wheeled concrete pipe truck fully loaded with flames engulfing the cab and engine compartment. Using water cannons, they controlled the fire within about 20 minutes. The cab and engine sustained severe damage, though the concrete pipes remained intact on the trailer. Fortunately, the driver and passenger escaped before the fire became critical, and no deaths or injuries occurred.
Sakolvat, 18, a passenger in the truck, recounted that the vehicle had departed from Thung Sadet in Plaeng Yao district, Chachoengsao, heading to Non-Ri subdistrict in Muang Chachoengsao to deliver concrete pipes. During the journey, the truck began exhibiting abnormal behavior. Smoke then poured from the cab and engine compartment, followed by rapid flames. The occupants quickly evacuated and called for help, which arrived in time to control the situation.
Sakolvat noted that before the incident, the accelerator pedal felt stuck, followed by smoke and fire. However, the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
