Two of Eight Victims Identified in Train-Bus Collision; Six More Awaiting Identification Verification
A freight train collided with a public bus near Bangkok's Airport Rail Link station on May 17, killing eight people; two victims have been identified while six others await verification at a forensic institute.
In a tragic incident on May 17, 2025, a freight train struck an air-conditioned public bus on Route 23 near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station, resulting in a massive fire. The collision claimed eight lives and injured thirty-three passengers. Two victims have been identified as Theekhaa Utmaakorn, 34, and Thiam Puangyod, 57, both Thai nationals. The remaining six deceased individuals are awaiting identification at the Police Hospital's forensic institute. Of the thirty-three injured, fifteen have been discharged while eighteen remain hospitalized across eight facilities including Phetchvej Hospital (3 patients), Kamillian Hospital (8 patients), Phyathai Hospital (1 patient), Rajavithi Hospital (1 patient), Phramongkut Hospital (1 patient), Chulalongkorn Hospital (1 patient), Rama Hospital (2 patients), and Ruamjai Rak Hospital (1 patient).
