The 45-year-old lecturer admitted to buying the drugs online and tested positive for methamphetamine use. He faces charges for possession and use of a Category 1 narcotic, while authorities pursue the drug supplier and coordinate with his university for disciplinary action.
On November 3, 2026, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Bangkok, together with Huai Khwang Police investigators, launched "Operation Cut the Bad Flesh No. 30" and arrested a university staff member in Bangkok with approximately 2.81 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice). The suspect, a 45-year-old male assistant professor, was charged with illegal possession and use of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine). The arrest took place at a hotel in Bang Kapi district following a complaint received via hotline 1386 on October 31, 2026, alleging a state official was involved in drugs. Surveillance confirmed the suspect matched the description and was seen acting suspiciously on the hotel's first floor. Upon questioning, the lecturer admitted to using ice and voluntarily led officers to his room, where three packets totaling 2.81 grams were found in a safe. He stated his latest purchase was 2 grams on November 2 for 2,200 baht via an online app, and a urine test confirmed drug use. The ONCB will expand the investigation to apprehend other involved parties and coordinate with the suspect's university for disciplinary action alongside criminal proceedings.
