Pak Kret Deputy Chief Assaults Commando Officer; 30 Commandos Rally
Nonthaburi police are investigating after Pak Kret Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Sathaporn and his subordinates allegedly assaulted a commando police officer at a karaoke bar on October 31. The victim suffered a ruptured blood vessel in his eye, prompting over 30 commando officers to gather at the station in solidarity. The provincial police chief has transferred the accused officers and ordered both disciplinary and criminal proceedings, describing the incident as a drunken misunderstanding.
Over 30 commando police officers arrived at Pak Kret police station to bolster their colleague, a police senior sergeant major, after he was beaten by Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Sathaporn and subordinates at a karaoke venue. The assault took place at 23:00 on October 31, 2026. The victim sustained a broken blood vessel in his eye and later filed a complaint at the station but feared he would not receive fair treatment.
On November 4, 2026, at Pak Kret station in Nonthaburi, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thammanoon Chaowawich, Nonthaburi provincial police commander, along with Deputy Commander Pol. Col. Chokchai Kanchanacharoen and Pak Kret Superintendent Pol. Col. Adirek Thongkaemkaew, met with involved officers to track progress on the case against Pol. Lt. Col. Sathaporn and his team.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Thammanoon stated that after learning a Pak Kret officer had assaulted a policeman from another unit, he wanted to avoid public perception of inter-unit conflict. Preliminary questioning revealed the violence stemmed from a misunderstanding: Pol. Lt. Col. Sathaporn believed the commando officer was falsely claiming to be a commando policeman, an impression worsened by alcohol. The accused officers have been transferred to the Nonthaburi provincial headquarters to ensure a transparent investigation and prevent criticism of institutional rivalry. The commander acknowledged the deputies acted excessively.
Reporters noted that on November 3, after the commando officer gave additional testimony to Pak Kret investigators, about 30 commando officers appeared at the station in a show of support. Video footage of the incident later circulated online.
