Thailand Awards 5.4 Billion Baht Broadband Contract
Thailand's telecommunications regulator awarded 5.4 billion baht in broadband contracts across five regions through an electronic auction, with True Corporation and Interlink Telecom emerging as major winners serving underserved areas natio
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) announced on 12 September 2025 that it had closed the auction for high-speed broadband internet services under the USO 3 Universal Service Obligation programme. On 11 September, acting NBTC secretary-general Trairat Viriyasiriggul signed the proclamation naming winners across all five regional groups through electronic bidding, with a combined contract value of 5,423.70 million baht.
Group 1 (Northern Region): Joint venture TI, comprising True Internet Corporation (a True Corporation subsidiary) and Infraset, won with a bid of 1,248.50 million baht.
Group 2 (Northeastern Region): Joint venture TCI, comprising Thai Com and Interlink Telecom, won with a bid of 1,884 million baht.
Group 3 (Central Region): Joint venture TW, comprising True Internet Corporation and Wire & Wireless, won with a bid of 761.50 million baht.
Group 4 (East-West Region): Joint venture TCI of Thai Com and Interlink Telecom won with a bid of 564 million baht.
Group 5 (Southern Region): Joint venture Interlink TKC, comprising Interlink Telecom and Turnkey Communication Services, won with a bid of 965.70 million baht.
Combining groups 2 and 4, the Thai Com and Interlink Telecom joint venture has secured contracts worth 2,448 million baht. True Corporation holds a stake in two contracts valued at 2,010 million baht through its subsidiary, while Interlink Telecom also participates in the southern region contract with Turnkey Communication Services for an additional 965.70 million baht.
