Vegetable Truck Crashes Into Tree, Driver Trapped
A vegetable delivery driver was trapped in his Toyota pickup after it crashed into a tree on Asia Road in Phatthalung late Friday night, requiring 15 minutes of cutting equipment work by rescue personnel to free him.
At 11:15 p.m. on August 3, police and rescue workers from Phatthalung responded to a single-vehicle crash on Asia Road in Don Thai subdistrict, Khuan Kanung district, Phatthalung province. The Toyota pickup had collided hard with a tree, with the front end severely damaged. The cargo gate gave way, scattering fresh vegetables across the road.
Inside the vehicle, 32-year-old Nupol was pinned in the cabin, his lower body trapped against the steering wheel. Rescue personnel used cutting equipment to free him over approximately 15 minutes. He suffered severe facial lacerations and was conscious but critically injured, and was rushed to Khuan Kanung Hospital.
According to Nupol's traveling companion, who was following in another vehicle from Ratchaburi, they had been in phone contact throughout the journey. The driver was transporting fresh vegetables to a customer in Pattani province. The companion reported hearing prolonged brake sounds just before the truck suddenly veered left and hit the tree hard. It is suspected that another vehicle may have cut in front suddenly, forcing Nupol to swerve and causing the crash.
