A lengthy overnight standoff ended when Deputy Superintendent Taspong surrendered to police at approximately 6:20 a.m. on September 10, 2024. His police officer son, identified as 'Folk', spent more than an hour negotiating via phone and loudspeaker after driving back from a Southern Thailand base, urging his father to come out and turn himself in while assuring him no harm would come to him. Initially, Taspong took his son's calls but refused to leave the house, prompting his son to request a personal meeting at a designated midway point under police supervision.
After roughly 30 minutes of conversation between father and son, the negotiations succeeded. Taspong emerged from the house in an exhausted state, and police took him into custody without incident. He was then transported to Bang Lamung Police Station for investigation and legal proceedings. Upon surrender, Taspong carried no firearm and informed officers of the location where he had placed the weapon, allowing police to recover and preserve it as evidence.
Bang Lamung Police Station Commander Sarawut Nuchnarot stated that the suspect appeared drained and stressed but cooperative. The siege, which began on the afternoon of September 9 and continued through the night, ended with police using negotiation as their primary approach. The area around the house has returned to normal and is now secure.
