Opposition Leader Seeks Confirmation on Electoral Commission Report Vote
Opposition lawmakers seek Parliament's confirmation to hold a September 11 session addressing the southern border petition and Election Commission report, pending agreement from both party whips.
At 11 p.m. on September 9, Prinya Wattrachasindu, a Democrat Party list MP, stated that Parliament President Sophon Sarum recently decided that the 2025 Budget Bill would be considered on September 10. The opposition does not object, but hopes that if the budget debate concludes by September 10, September 11 could be used to address two important agenda items: the southern border problem petition and the Election Commission report. Sophon indicated willingness to schedule a meeting on September 11, pending confirmation. The opposition has agreed among themselves to support holding the meeting on that date to discuss both matters. Lertsak Patanakaiyakul, the second vice president of Parliament presiding over the session, stated that Sophon has not yet formally agreed but expressed willingness to proceed if both party whips reach consensus. Lertsak asked the opposition and government whips to coordinate the details. During the discussion of the Education Ministry's Article 24, First Vice President Mallika Jiraphanthavanic spoke with Bhumjaithai Party MPs, including Krawee Parisnanantakul, the government chief whip from Ang Thong, and Thanyalak Timsuwannakul from Loei, while Democrat Party MPs, including Nattapong Ruangpanwavuti and party leader Sirikanya Tansakul, held similar discussions.
