The 32nd Laguna Phuket Triathlon in 2026 will be held on a larger scale, welcoming both professional and amateur athletes. Paul Wilson, Managing Director of Laguna Phuket, announced at a press conference on September 9 at Banyantree Resort that the competition is committed to continuous improvement and reinforcing its status as an international-class venue with comprehensive facilities covering competition areas, management, safety, recovery zones, nutritional support, and dedicated relaxation areas. The 2026 event will serve as a unified community centered on fitness passion, challenge, and health-conscious lifestyle, opening participation to all levels from professionals to amateurs who can experience one of Southeast Asia's longest triathlon courses.
Wilson noted that the resort has observed serious preparation from triathletes worldwide ready to set records, prompting Laguna Phuket to provide the most comprehensive sports and recovery ecosystem from training grounds through competition to recovery. He emphasized that the triathlon transcends competition—it is an open space for everyone, not limited to professionals, allowing all participants to experience the international-standard management and atmosphere while using the same course as elite athletes.
Wilailouksana Ruengpol, Subdistrict Chief of Thalang, Phuket, stated that the district and province welcome all athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The Laguna Phuket Triathlon serves as a vital economic stimulus for local communities and reinforces Phuket's image as Southeast Asia's sports tourism hub. The 2026 race includes standard-distance triathlon, sprint, relay, and duathlon categories. The course reflects Phuket's authentic character: a 1.8-kilometer swim in the Andaman Sea and Laguna Phuket's lakes, followed by a 50-kilometer bike route through coastal scenery, hills, and local villages, and concluding with a 12-kilometer run around Laguna Phuket. Sprint Triathlon consists of 0.5-kilometer swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 6-kilometer run, while Duathlon includes 4-kilometer run, 50-kilometer bike segments.
