Griwer Denies Election Commission Signaled Budget Delay
A government coalition leader rejected opposition claims that the Election Commission signaled parliament to delay budget discussions, insisting the independent body has no such arrangement with lawmakers.
At Parliament on September 9, Griwer Parisanananthakul, an Ang Thong constituency MP for Phumi Jai Thai party and chairman of the government coalition coordinating committee, dismissed opposition claims that the Election Commission had sent signals to parliament to delay the fiscal year 2570 budget bill as a way to shield itself from debate.
Grewir stated emphatically that no such arrangement exists and there would be no reason for it to happen. He emphasized that the Election Commission is an independent body that neither the government nor parliament has authority to oversee or control.
He noted that discussion of the 2567 and 2568 reports would come before parliament, and both opposition and government parties have the right to debate these matters. Griwer stressed that the ruling Phumi Jai Thai party also has points it wishes to raise. He challenged critics to provide concrete evidence rather than make baseless accusations, saying he wanted clarity instead of floating allegations that could harm others.
