Son Pleads With Barricaded Officer for 30 Minutes With No Response
A deputy superintendent in Chon Buri barricaded himself inside his home after shooting his wife at a kindergarten, ignoring his son's 30-minute emotional pleas through the window for him to surrender peacefully.
An emotional standoff unfolded on the evening of September 9, 2025, as the son of Tasapong, a deputy superintendent at Bang Lamung police station, attempted to convince his father to surrender peacefully. Tasapong had opened fire on his wife, a teacher, inside a municipal kindergarten in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province, before barricading himself inside his residence as police surrounded the house.
The son, Folk, who traveled from southern Thailand, was allowed by officers to approach the house and appeal to his father. For approximately 30 minutes, he called out emotionally through the window, pleading: "Dad, Folk loves you. Dad, how are you? Come talk to me through the window, Dad. Please, I'm begging you. No one will hurt you, Dad. Please. Can I come inside to see you, Dad? I want to hug you." However, there was no response or sound from inside the house, and officials withdrew the son for his safety.
Police maintained a tight perimeter and continued to assess the situation. Earlier attempts to negotiate through relatives and acquaintances had also failed to establish contact. Officers prepared equipment and personnel to enter the residence but were ordered to stand down after only a few minutes. Commanders regrouped to reassess the situation and develop a new strategy, while prioritizing the safety of all parties and seeking a resolution without further loss of life.
