On August 18, security camera footage from a restaurant in Nakhon Nayok Province captured dramatic footage of lightning striking a rain tree as a chef walked toward his parked vehicle just meters away. The man quickly ran back into the restaurant to safety.

Reporters later visited the scene and interviewed Natthawut, 25, the restaurant employee and incident survivor, who showed them the parking area and the point where the lightning hit the tree.

Natthawut recounted that the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. during heavy rain and thunderstorms. He had opened an umbrella and was retrieving items from his car parked near the rain tree when lightning suddenly struck the tree, sending wood fragments scattering across the area. Startled, he ran back into the restaurant. Moments later, a large branch of the tree, measuring more than 5 meters long, came crashing down. At the time, he was wearing a protective amulet from Lam Bua Loy Temple.
