Woman Files Police Report Against Spirit Medium Over Egg Fraud
A woman from Pattani paid 9,000 baht to a spirit medium in Phatthalung for a cleansing ritual after being told she was cursed. She discovered hair and thread inside a cracked egg and later saw the same substances on the medium’s nails in a ritual video, suspecting fraud. She filed a police report, while the medium denies wrongdoing and says the fee is a standard tuition.
Police reported that on October 13, 2026, Ms. Trimat, 24, from Pattani province, filed a complaint at Mueang Phatthalung Police Station after visiting a ritual office in Phatthalung to perform a cleansing ceremony based on belief. She handed over 9,000 baht to the practitioner. Later, her friend opened a video recorded during the ceremony and noticed suspicious behavior suggesting items may have been prepared in advance to deceive her.
She said she found the office through TikTok, became interested, and contacted Mr. Songphumi, the office owner. During their conversation, Mr. Songphumi told her she had been cursed by outsiders with a powerful curse requiring a cleansing ritual, which worried her, prompting her to travel from Pattani to Phatthalung with a group of friends.
Upon arrival, they performed the ritual steps, including chanting and the ceremony, before proceeding to crack a chicken egg. After cracking the egg, she discovered hair, thread, and other foreign objects mixed inside the egg cup, leading her to believe she had indeed been cursed as claimed.
Mr. Songphumi then continued with the ritual, making talismans and chanting, before asking her to make merit for the ceremony. She gave him the 9,000 baht. After the ritual ended, she and her friends left.
While traveling back, her friend opened the video of the ritual and observed abnormal substances on Mr. Songphumi’s nails. The video shows hair and thread attached to his nails while he was cracking the egg, and at one point he placed the eggshell near his nails before the hair and thread appeared inside the egg cup.
Upon reviewing the video, the woman and her friends suspected that the foreign objects found in the egg had been pre‑planted, not produced by the ritual, and believed they had been tricked into paying for the ceremony. They therefore filed a police report.
Later, reporters visited the spirit medium’s office in Thua Khok Subdistrict, Mueang Phatthalung District. Mr. Songphumi and his relatives said the woman brought her own eggs and asked for a curse‑removal ritual, even though the office claims she came to perform a love spell for a new boyfriend and to place black magic on her ex‑partner.
Mr. Songphumi insisted he had never deceived anyone, only wishing for his descendants to have better lives. He explained that the fee charged was a tuition of 2,999 baht, which everyone must pay to cover the ritual costs, and urged people of faith to use judgment and not believe blindly without reflection.
At the same time, while reporters were at the office, another person arrived to perform black magic by cracking a chicken egg, and again hair and thread emerged from the egg, similar to the woman’s case.
