Bangkok Staff to WFH During World Bank-IMF Meeting
Bangkok officials will work from home on Oct 12, 14-15 and have a special holiday on Oct 16 to ease traffic and security for the World Bank-IMF summit. Over 15,000 delegates from 190 countries are expected at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The government says the event will highlight Thailand's capabilities and bring economic benefits.
The government will host the annual meeting of the World Bank and IMF governors from October 12 to 18 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul stressed the importance of the event, urging all agencies to ensure smooth proceedings, showcase Thailand's potential, add economic value, and benefit the public. Spokeswoman Ploythale Lakhasangchan said measures are set to facilitate travel and security for global figures and ease Bangkok traffic congestion ahead of over 15,000 participants from 190 countries. From October 12 (WFH), October 13 (regular holiday), October 14-15 (WFH), and October 16 (special holiday) for Bangkok government offices. Private firms and state enterprises are not automatically off but are encouraged to consider as appropriate; banks in Bangkok will close specially; hospitals, police stations and essential services will continue with shifts. The cabinet meeting will be moved to Wednesday October 14 instead of its usual schedule. The meeting offers Thailand a chance to show readiness, boost confidence, and generate economic benefits in trade, investment, technology, and tourism.
