Actress Puklook Bans Pregnancy and Weight Questions, Cites Work Stress
Thai actress Puklook Fonthip has declared two questions off-limits: whether she is pregnant or has gained weight. She explained an 8kg weight gain resulted from a grueling work schedule, not intentional overeating for a cooking show, and rejected quick-fix weight loss methods. Puklook is now focused on slimming down and building muscle for a boxing role in a drama starting production in late January.
Actress Puklook Fonthip publicly announced two questions she forbids anyone from asking: "Are you pregnant?" and "Have you gained weight?" She simultaneously revealed the reason she has looked noticeably plumper lately: "Right now my weight has gone up a total of 8 kilograms. I'm not taking event work because I'm fat — embarrassing, right? I like to roast myself. When I go live, people love to ask if I'm pregnant, so I answer that if I were pregnant the whole country would already know. So don't come asking if I'm pregnant; the question is really 'Have you gained weight?' The second forbidden question is 'Have you gained weight?' That's not a question you ask people, is it? Anyone can see I've gained weight. And I'm not doing the cooking show anymore because people asked if I intentionally got fat for the cooking show. The weight gain is real, not intentional; it's a side effect of working hard. Right now my weight has dropped a bit but maybe still not to my satisfaction."
Asked about taking shortcuts to get thin, she said: "No. I've had friends who used shortcuts but they yo-yoed, so I don't want to be like that. Not that I'm anti-it; to each their own. I just feel we used to maintain health through exercise, scheduling time so we could still work quality hours while also having time to exercise. Sleep at least 8 hours minimum, eat well, but sometimes go live at 2 AM, get hungry and eat late. Now I'm determined to lose weight because I have to film a drama in late January next year. The role requires me to be a boxer, so I need muscles. In two months, see you then."
