Agriculture Ministry Deploys 24-Hour Flood Response
Thailand's Agriculture Ministry deployed 120 personnel with 30 boats and vehicles across six provinces to respond to heavy rainfall and flooding from September 25-27, while establishing support programs for affected farmers and residents.
Deputy Agriculture Minister Wachrapol Khaokhram announced orders to the Department of Fisheries to establish 24-hour emergency task forces in response to continuous rainfall from September 25-27, 2569. The deployment includes 120 personnel, 30 vehicles, and 30 fisheries inspection boats positioned in high-risk zones across Samut Prakan, Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Phitsanulok, Rayong, and the Eastern region to monitor conditions, prevent hazards, and provide rapid public assistance. The operation emphasizes public safety and damage reduction, with emergency contacts available through local fisheries offices.
The minister also instructed the Office of Agricultural Land Reform to monitor affected areas and prepare support for impacted farmers, while increasing communications about necessary information to help farmers prepare and minimize damage. The Agricultural Marketing Organization for Farmers has been tasked with establishing measures to support affected farmers and residents, including opening a special distribution point at its Chatuchak facility throughout the flood period to sell weather-damaged agricultural products and reduce farmer losses.
Additionally, the Agricultural Marketing Organization has opened a donation collection point for essential goods and consumer items to assist affected residents, serving as a coordinating center to collect and distribute aid to disaster zones appropriately and comprehensively. For provincial areas, the organization has been instructed to use available facilities in Nakhon Sawan and Phitsanulok as reception and support centers for people impacted by the flooding.
