Authorities seized approximately 600 kilograms of ice worth over 90 million baht and found government officials involved, ordering their removal from duty and criminal prosecution, while pushing to expand asset seizures.

On October 2, 2026, reporters said Narathiwat Province, together with police, military, and local administration, announced the results of drug prevention and suppression operations at the Narathiwat Provincial Hall (Building 2) after a joint force seized about 600 kilograms of ice valued at over 90 million baht in Moo 3, Na Na Tik subdistrict, Tak Bai district, Narathiwat Province, under the operation 'Narathiwat Destroy Drugs'.

Governor Boonchuay Hom-yam-yen said the drug seizure revealed involvement of state officials from the Ministry of Interior, prompting orders to remove them from duty and pursue criminal charges, and he instructed district offices to examine the performance of supervisors at all levels to ensure proper oversight.

He added that Narathiwat will continue to expand the investigation, tracking suspects and seizing assets linked to financial flows, and called on the public to provide tips to seriously tackle the drug problem, even after the 90-day 'Destroy Drugs' operation concludes, with efforts continuing alongside community strengthening and the implementation of the village charter, or 'Nine Good Rules'.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Prayong Kot-sakha, Commander of Narathiwat Provincial Police, said the operation's success stemmed from public tips that led to the large ice seizure, and police will coordinate with relevant agencies inside and outside the area to widen the crackdown on networks, including tracking and seizing assets of those involved via financial trails.

Preliminary investigation showed the drugs were destined for abroad; authorities are gathering evidence to prosecute those involved under the law before sending the exhibits for testing and destruction according to government procedures.
