Band Leader Reports Burn Victim Din Stable After 80% Burns
Lead singer Din, who suffered 80% burns in the Lat Krabang bar fire, remains stable after surgery and kidney dialysis, while his bandmate and girlfriend Breeze died in the blaze. The band's leader Ice is calling for workplace safety measure
At 3 p.m. on July 14, 2025, at the Police Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine, Atthipat Wicharoen (Ice), leader of Thotsakun band, revealed that Din, the lead singer severely burned in the Lat Phrao bar fire, remains stable following recent surgery and is undergoing kidney dialysis. Doctors are monitoring his condition closely as he suffered burns covering more than 80 percent of his body.
Ice said he spoke with Din's mother, who reported that her son is still responsive and conscious. Ice believes that if Din maintains his fighting spirit, he may recover from this tragedy, noting that "his mother told me Din is fighting." The family is maintaining constant vigil at the hospital.
Ice acknowledged that band members and fellow musicians are in a state of severe distress. Many have sought solace through merit-making and prayer. Today, friends are gathering for the water-pouring blessing ceremony for Breeze, Din's girlfriend and band vocalist, who died in the fire. Her father is a monk and will oversee the funeral arrangements.
Ice admitted that the incident has profoundly affected him, causing him to consider quitting music. Every time he closes his eyes, he sees images of his girlfriend, friends, and the events of that day, leaving him unable to sleep and startled throughout the night. Though he still loves music, he is uncertain whether the band can continue, as all members are emotionally devastated.
Ice said he has drawn strength from musician friends both inside and outside the band, as well as supporters known and unknown, who have encouraged him to stay strong. Many told him that as band leader, he must stand up and fight.
When asked if he could return to the scene, Ice admitted he cannot face passing through that area again, as he does not want to relive the traumatic images. He appealed to all night-shift singers and musicians to choose safe workplaces and avoid venues that seem risky, as the incident has made him realize that fire hazards are closer to home than he ever imagined.
"I used to see news about fires elsewhere and never thought it would happen so close to me," Ice stated. "I want to warn all musicians to be careful because it's a danger much closer than we think."
Ice also called on society not to let this matter fade into silence and pledged to follow up on compensation and accountability for all victims—not just his girlfriend and band members, but also the families of the deceased, the injured, and those affected psychologically.
Regarding the establishment's responsibility, Ice said no representatives or related parties have contacted him directly. Although he has seen a statement on the restaurant's Facebook page, he has not read the details. He urged the business operator to clarify publicly how they will compensate victims and contact all affected persons directly, believing direct communication would demonstrate sincerity far better than social media posts alone.
Today, Ice will bring his girlfriend's body for religious funeral rites at Lam Fa Pha Waterfall Temple in Samut Prakan Province.
